Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced a major change in Umrah visa policy, aimed at improving the management of pilgrim visits. Under the new rule, travelers who receive an Umrah visa must enter the Kingdom within one month of the visa being issued. If they fail to do so, the visa will automatically be canceled. This update shortens the pre-travel validity period and encourages pilgrims to plan their journeys more efficiently.

According to the ministry, the new rule reduces the entry period from three months to one month after the visa is issued. However, once pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia, they can still stay for up to three months, just like before. This means that while the time to enter has been shortened, the duration of stay inside the Kingdom remains unchanged.

The ministry explained that the decision aims to streamline the flow of visitors and ensure a smoother experience for all pilgrims. The change also helps authorities manage the increasing number of Umrah travelers more effectively, avoiding overcrowding during peak times.

Ahmed Bajifer, advisor to Saudi Arabia’s National Committee for Umrah, said the new regulations will take effect next week. He mentioned that the step has been taken in response to the growing demand for Umrah visas, reflecting the government’s effort to enhance services for international pilgrims.

According to Arab News, more than four million Umrah visas have already been issued since June this year—a record number compared to previous years. This sharp rise shows the growing interest of Muslims worldwide in performing Umrah. The new major change in Umrah visa policy is expected to help Saudi Arabia handle the surge in visitors efficiently while ensuring a better spiritual experience for all.
